I’ve never been a big reader, probably because of time constraints and other commitments. I’ve also never been able to focus on a book for long periods unless it has a vortex of a storyline. My mind tends to wander, and I get lost in life, instead of the book. So when I started listening to audiobooks, the game changed.

Audiobooks allowed me to listen to an entire book while working, driving, or any scenario where I could double-task. I needed to paint a room in my house and wasn’t feeling any music, so I put on an audiobook. I was having a tough time at work and needed to focus on something other than work drama, so I put on my headphones to listened to other people’s melodramas. With audiobooks, I was able to finish a book in a few days rather than a few months (or years – yes I have books I still haven’t finished reading traditionally!)

Here are some books I’ve listened to or read so far this year:

The Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Fiction

Not every book is going to hit it out of the park, and luckily I have thousands to choose from when I use the Libby app. If I don’t enjoy a book, I can return it and check out another (for free). And, the fact that I don’t have to spend money on books I don’t enjoy gives me peace of mind. Gotta love technology!
